SPORTS clubs in Wiltshire have been awarded £3,000 to help them encourage more people into sport.

Wiltshire Council launched the Return to Sport and Sports Stars projects in 2013 as part of its Legacy for Wiltshire, which aims to help bring communities together, encourage people to keep active and healthy, and support future Olympians and Paralympians.

Among those to benefit is Mere Gymbuds Gymnastics Club, which has been given a grant of £400.

Jonathon Seed, the council’s Cabinet member for leisure, said: “The grants awarded through these programmes not only enable clubs to offer a high quality coaching scheme, but will also help them promote their sessions to local communities. Having more members will keep these clubs vibrant and keep members fit and active for years to come.”
