MP celebrating £3m training pot

MP Claire Perry is celebrating success in her campaign for funding to train army service leavers.

The Government has announced almost £3m in funding to support higher education and local employment training for armed forces service leavers and other local workers.

The money has been allocated as part of a larger package of investment totalling £130m in Wiltshire, awarded to the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Economic Partnership (LEP).

Mrs Perry said: “I am especially pleased that within the large amount of new money being invested in Wiltshire, there is a smaller pot set aside to help those leaving the armed forces to get the skills and training they need to secure appropriate jobs on Civvy Street.

“With this new investment we should see more support, more training and ultimately more job successes for those making the transition from a military to a civilian career.”
