WITH the long school summer holidays just around the corner, Salisbury and District Angling Club has organised a series of events that could help parents find something for their offspring to do.
The club has organised a series of "come and try" fishing sessions for juniors aged from eight to late teens taking place during the school holidays.
They will be held at the club's Petersfinger Lakes on the A36 on the outskirts of Salisbury and just half a mile or so from the Tesco roundabout on the Southampton Road, each one starting at 6pm. Mums and dads are welcome to go along as well and the evening sessions will be of interest to complete beginners, novices or those with some experience.
The sessions will be run by a top coach from the Salmon and Trout Association and the lessons will include how to get started, river craft, fish handling and safety on the bank. Equipment and bit will be provided, although youngsters can bring their own equipment if they prefer.
For more details of the courses, or to book a place, contact the club's general manager on 01722 321164 or ring organiser, Ricky Polden, on 01722 320793.
The courses will be run on the evenings of July 23 and August 6, 13 and 20.
