NEW play equipment for children in the Winterbournes is to be celebrated at a family fun event on Sunday.
At the village play area, next to the Winterbourne Arms in Winterbourne Dauntsey, there will be free games and activities for children, including face-painting, novelty races, Boules and a Design a Playground competition.
Invited guests at the event, organised by the parish council, will include representatives from the SITA Trust, Hill's Waste, Community First and Amesbury Area Board, who all provided grant funding for the new play equipment.
Also attending will be the many local people who raised additional funds and helped to prepare the site prior to installation of the new equipment.
In 2013 the play area became a Queen Elizabeth II Field in Trust, which means that it can never be developed and can only be used as a recreational area.
