AIR cadets in Ringwood and Fordingbridge are overjoyed after winning a trophy putting them in the top six corps in the country.

The 2515 (Ringwood & Fordingbridge) Squadron were chosen by Group Captain Remlinger as the Southwest Regional representative in the Corps' Sir Alan Lees Trophy competition.

The annual competition is to find the top unit in the ACO and more than 1,000 squadrons across the six regions take part.

The cadets saw off competition from units in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Dorset and the Thames Valley, putting on a great show in April at their regional inspection.

The next stage of the trophy is an inspection by Air Commodore McCafferty, Commanant Air Cadets, from HQAC at RAF Cranwell at a date to be confirmed.
