THE Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Salisbury is getting into the election spirit by offering voters the chance to meet and chat with him in a city pub.

Management consultant Reeten Banerji will be at the New Inn every Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm, starting this week.

Mr Banerji, 40, who lives at Old Sarum, is a former maths teacher and assistant headteacher at Westminster Academy, and has a particular interest in education.

He began his career in the IT industry in America, working with the giant AT&T and later moving into consultancy in Silicon Valley, helping start-up companies.

While in the US he gained an MBA, and also taught economics at Western Carolina University.

Health is another of his interests, particularly the pressures on the NHS from an ageing population, and he campaigned against the expansion of Heathrow airport because of its impact on people’s wellbeing.

Workwise, he now specialises in helping people to understand and manage change.

Off-duty, the former Territorial Army soldier is a keen cyclist and hiker.

LibDem supporters can also hear Mr Banerji speaking at a fundraising afternoon at Laverstock Village Hall on Sunday August 10 at 2pm.
