THERE were dog shows, duck races, music, cakes and crafts on offer in Durrington for the annual village show.

The town council organises a bumper weekend every year with lots of fun activities for villagers across the weekend of July 19 and 20.

On Saturday there was the Durrington Flower and Produce Show and the annual duck race raised £800. This was followed by Music in the Rec with Durrington Walls Wind Band, The Mosquitoes, Fever Pitch and Break Cover performing.

On Sunday, more than 4,000 people attended the Village Show and Vintage Vehicle Gathering with tractors, classic cars, military vehicles, steam engines and motorbikes on display.

This included a Durrington Dog Show and cakes, ice creams and refreshments for sale. Despite worries about rainstorms, the bad weather missed Durrington and visitors to the show enjoyed glorious sunshine.

Organiser John Todd said: “We were really pleased with the turnout. With my organising team working alongside the town council and friends of the event we have given the people of Durrington a great weekend and I am looking forward to next year.”
