POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a missing man from the St Leonards area – with a picture being released.

David Button, 54, was last seen by his son at his home at 3pm yesterday (Thursday). He was reported missing at 10.04pm on the same day.

He left a note saying he was going for a walk but he has not been seen since.

David enjoys hiking and walking the coastal paths and may be some distance from his home address.

He left without taking any of his personal possessions and he has not taken his car.

Force incident commander Debbie Marsden said: “David’s disappearance is out of character.

“Everyone who knows him is very worried and would like to find him as soon as possible.

“Officers, including dog units, are presently conducting an extensive search of the surrounding area.

“I ask anyone who knows the whereabouts of David, or David himself, to make contact with someone – we just need to know that you are safe and well.

“Anyone with information should contact the police urgently on 101.”

David is described as white, around six feet tall and of slim build. He has short grey hair, is clean shaven and was last seen wearing a dark blue polo shirt, dark tracksuit trousers and Salomon walking trainers.
