CONNECTING Wiltshire has launched a new challenge with sustainable transport charity Sustrans aimed at getting commuters to work in a more environmentally friendly way.
It is called the Connecting Wiltshire Travel Challenge and will take place throughout the month of September.
The challenge involves an interactive online competition which will see workplaces from around the county compete to clock up the most miles covered by walking, cycling, public transport and car sharing.
Participants will be able to log on online to see how many calories they have burnt whilst taking part in the challenge.
Eleanor Wratten, Connecting Wiltshire Workplace engagement officer, said: “The Travel Challenge is a great way to get people across Wiltshire thinking about the way they travel to work every day.
“By swapping the car journey for walking, cycling or public transport, you can explore your local area and be more active, all while saving money.”
A number of prizes will be on offer such as tickets to Stonehenge, vouchers for canoe hire in Bradford on Avon and rail ticket vouchers.
Prizes will be awarded to the individual who makes the most journeys by walking, cycling or public transport as well as the workplace that has the highest proportion of its employees taking part.
