THE POLICE and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire is backing a government plan to remove the barriers that exist for people living with disabilities

Angus Macpherson was invited to join the Accessible Britain Challenge, which starts on Thursday, by the Minister for Disabled People, Mark Harper.

By working with the police, the campaign is aiming at improving the accessibility for disabled people across Wiltshire.

Mr Macpherson said: “I am committed to providing services which embrace diversity and which promote equality of opportunity.
“Through my Innovation Fund I already support initiatives that promote inclusivity and accessibility such as the Safe Places project.

“I am also working with Chief Constable Pat Geenty to ensure Wiltshire Police creates a culture that values difference and recognises the benefits a diverse workforce brings to the service we provide to our communities.

“Wiltshire Police deserves credit for being awarded the Positive About Disabled People two ticks symbol for their commitment to employ, keep and develop the abilities of disabled staff.”
