BEDROOM FARCE Salisbury Playhouse IT was the first time I had seen an Alan Ayckbourn play, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it had me chuckling all the way through.

Bedroom Farce sees the Playhouse transformed into the round for the popular production.

The set is impressive and ensures the audience are intimately involved throughout. The action is set in just one long night in 1975, in the bedrooms of three couples.

The whole cast, directed by Gareth Machin, are absolutely fantastic so it is difficult to pick out particularly notable performances.

Penelope Beaumont is brilliant as Delia, her husband Ernest (Graham Seed) is hilarious, and the relationship between the two is believable.

The loveable – but mad – Kate is excellently portrayed by Eleanor Wyld, and her husband Malcolm is well played by Niall Costigan.

The relationship between Jan (Emily Wachter) and Nick (David Partridge) is also responsible for lots of laughs.

At the centre of the storyline are Trevor (Mawgan Gyles) and the peculiar Susannah (Emma Noakes). The pair flit between the different scenes, spreading mayhem wherever they go, to great comedic effect.

Bedroom Farce runs at Salisbury Playhouse until October 4.
