KINGFISHERS class from Dinton Primary School took part in an evacuation day as part of their class topic The World at War.

The Year 3 and 4 students travelled by train from Salisbury Railway Station to Tisbury where they were met by a formidable billeting officer.

The children then spent the day at Hinton Hall, taking part in various activities to find out how World War II affected families and village communities.

On the return journey, they were met by their families on the platform.

Class teacher Sharon Harvey said, "A fifteen minute journey in cramped conditions was just about bearable, I can't imagine how the children and the teacher's in 1939 must have struggled on a journey taking many hours and without toilets."
