A 50-MILE road ride is taking place on Sunday in memory of a cyclist who was killed while mountain biking near Coombe Bissett.
Gary Kelly, who lived in Salisbury, died earlier this year when his bike was in collision with a delivery lorry on the A354.
His friends are organising two road rides – one of 50 miles and another of 50km – to mark what would have been Gary’s 50th birthday this December.
The 50-mile road ride is this Sunday (October 26) and starts at Wilton Fire Station, taking in Salisbury, The Woodfords, Durrington, Chitterne, The Langfords and finishing back at the fire station for a barbecue.
The 50km ride is on November 16 and goes through the countryside of Grovely Woods, Stratford Tony, Martin and Broadchalke.
Both rides start at 9.30am and there is a fee of £20 per person per ride that includes half way food and drink stop, and a barbecue. Entry forms can be obtained from Hayball Cycle Sport in Winchester Street, Salisbury.
The money raised from the two rides will go towards funding an oak memorial bench in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral.
