Verwood Mayor Pat Morrow buys the first poppy in Verwood from Bob Richmond, the honorary Poppy Appeal organiser
THE Mayor of Verwood bought the first poppy sold in the town on Monday morning.
Councillor Pat Morrow bought her poppy from Honorary Poppy Appeal organiser Bob Richmond by the Memorial Stone on Ferrett Green.
“I was delighted to be able to do it, particularly this year with us commemorating the centenary of the start of the First World War,” said Cllr Morrow.
Poppies go on general sale on Saturday.
