EXCITEMENT is building over tonight’s big switch on of the city’s Christmas lights.
EastEnders star Steve McFadden will be doing the honours at 7pm but the evening's entertainment kicks off at 6pm with local band Young Brando – recently back from supporting McBusted on a UK tour.
Vocalist Jenni Monday will then take to the stage with some festive numbers to get everyone singing along before the Salisbury mayor councillor Jo Broom welcomes everyone.
Following a blessing fromSalisbury Cathedral’s Canon Chancellor, Edward Probert, it will be time for the actor that plays EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell to join Father Christmas in the official countdown and switch on.
There will be a firework display and then local covers band Innervision will be singing both festive songs and hits from across the decades to close the evening’s event.
In order to help with the large numbers both Blue Boar Row and Queen Street will be closed to vehicles during the event.
