A TEAM of five fundraisers embarked on the swim of a lifetime to raise money for a charity supporting bereaved children.

Members of the East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club, who called themselves the Chilli Nutters Channel Swim Team, took part in a relay cross-Channel swim, which took more than 15 hours to complete, to raise £3,781.68 for Mosaic, which works with bereaved young people and their families.

The team comprised Mark Shakles, Tom Duly, Jude Martin, Chris Millener and Ali Budynkiewicz who stepped in to replace Paolo De Luca who was forced to pull out due to a shoulder injury.

They trained for a year for the swim.

The swimmers took turns to cover the distance from Dover to France in hourly slots battling sea sickness, jelly fish, ferries and container ships, with each swimmer completing three one-hour swims.
