BURGLARS snatched jewellery worth £20,000 from an auction house on Saturday night.

The thieves broke into Toogood and May in Shipton Bellinger, near Tidworth, at 10.30pm and stole a safe containing diamond rings and a rare gold Rolex watch.

“I’m incredibly angry,” said director Helen Fletcher.

“None of it is ours, it belongs to our vendors. We want to get it back for the people who own the items.”

Helen said the thieves had been “very clever”.

“They walked past cash and silver and didn’t touch it,” she said.

“They knew exactly what they wanted and they were out the door.”

After taking out the outside lights and the alarm box, the burglars tried to get in through a window but failed.

Instead they took the bottom of the door out, and were in and out in less than ten minutes.

They stole the entire safe, which was concreted into the ground and contained a six-anda- half carat diamond ring and an 18 carat gold Rolex watch, pictured, among other valuable items. All the pieces had been pictured and numbered.

Helen said there the thieves had left no mess and caused no damage, apart from breaking into the building.

“We don’t normally leave expensive stuff in the safe,” she said.

Due to the weight of the safe, officers believe at least two or three people would have been involved, using a large vehicle.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything in the area at approximately 10.30pm on Saturday night.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
