THE family and friends of a “brave” and “amazing” young mother who is fighting cancer for the second time has launched a fundraising campaign to raise awareness and funds.

Stacey Webb, from Salisbury, was last month re-diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, 11 months into remission and is now undergoing chemotherapy.

To aid the 24-year-old and her family while she is being treated, her sister-in-law is organising various charity activities.

Stacey’s sister-in-law, Jenny Fowler, has set-up a Facebook page called “Let's help Stacey kick cancer's butt!”

A boot camp with fitness instructor Angela Ross in Amesbury on January 18 and a private party at Salisbury’s Chapel Nightclub on February 6 have already been arranged.

Proceeds will mostly cover the cost of Stacey’s two-year-old son Louie’s nursery fees, about £5,000 a year.

“I couldn’t just sit there and do nothing after what Stacey has been through,” said Jenny.

“I’ve arranged events on a bigger scale and businesses want to support what we are doing. The aim is to raise money to put Louie through nursery during this traumatic time.

“We hope to raise £5,000 to cover the nursery funds and make Stacey’s and her husband Liam’s lives as comfortable as possible.”

Within a week of launching the page just before Christmas, it had attracted more than 800 members.

“We’ve had a really good reaction,” Jenny added.

“Stacey has had a really hard time, especially considering she is only 24.

“She is an amazing and brave woman who is an inspiration to everyone.

“As a family we’re very close and have become even closer since Stacey was first diagnosed with cancer.”

Stacey, who works at Salisbury District Hospital where she is currently having treatment, is waiting for a successful donor match so a bone marrow transplant can take place.

After the operation at Southampton Hospital, Stacey will be in isolation for three months.
