MARATHON world record holder Paula Radcliffe spent the day with family and friends at Moors Valley Country Park near Ringwood.

The visit was arranged as part of the Activate Coast and Countryside project, which aims to help everyone get fit and promises that you don’t have to be a world class athlete to benefit.

This year more than 1,000 locals are expected to take part in activities including running, golf, canoeing, cycling, fishing and Nordic walking.

Health and activities officer Jackie O’Connor said: “It was wonderful to welcome Paula Radcliffe to Moors Valley. Whilst we are not offering marathon running as part of the activate programme there are many other ways we can help people improve their fitness, both at the park and across a range of locations in East Dorset and Christchurch.

“It’s a great opportunity to try out new activities or pick up the basics of a sport and, as well as individuals, we can also help families enjoy exercising together and support those returning to exercise after injury, illness or general inactivity.”

All the courses and activities on offer can be found on the Moors Valley website.
