A LORRY driver charged with causing death by dangerous driving on the A303 Mere Bypass appeared at Salisbury Crown Court on Friday.

Paul Bradley, 52, from Fore Street in Columpton, Devon, had previously been charged with causing the death of Mariola Martin after the articulated lorry he was driving collided with her broken-down Mazda MX5 from behind.

The 53-year-old Swindon woman died from her injuries at the scene of the crash on the eastbound carriageway of the Mere bypass just before 1pm on July 27 2014.

Bradley, who wore a sling on his left arm, spoke only to confirm his name.

He will next appear before the court to enter a plea on April 13.

If he pleads not guilty, a trial will begin place on October 12.

The defendant has been released on unconditional bail pending further enquiries.
