FOUR amateur chefs from south Wiltshire appeared on Channel 4’s hit show Come Dine With Me yesterday.

Viewers watched quartet Anna Wilde, Rossy Manning, Fiona Kiernan-Tatem and Tim Bevington cook up a feast in their quest to win the £1,000 cash prize.

The winner was crowned on the final night as Wiltshire Council project manager Fiona proved to be the star chef, with her delicious treats paving the way to victory.

Her full Irish breakfast to start, followed by lamb pies for main and afternoon tea for dessert resulted in high scores from the other contestants.

“It was really hard to work out how you’ve done but it was a really nice surprise to find out I’d won – I think the cakes swung it!” said the 42-yearold, who spent the prize money on a holiday to Turkey with her family.

“I’m pretty organised in the kitchen and I was ready for it.

“I didn't have a theme I just had a really nice dinner party.”

Fiona has now been inspired to launch a baking business that will teach people how to make cakes.

Runner-up was fancy-dress goer Anna, whose night revolved around a wild tea party theme and saw the host dressed up as Alice in Wonderland.

She said: “The first night is the worst night to host as you don’t know what to expect but it was a great experience,”

said Anna, who works for the Diocese of Salisbury.

“They are a lovely bunch of people and we all got on really well.

“I’m massive fan of the show and for me it was the best one I could have been on.”

Her tempting scallops, chicken and flower pot cheesecakes ensured the night was a success.

She added: “I was over the moon to come second and put in the most effort with decor, and my fancy dress kit box went down well.”

Night two stayed with the fancydress theme as DJ Rossy had a pirate evening at his Salisbury home, which he described as a “disaster” after coming last.

He said his chicken skewers went “okay” but his beef bourguignon filling in the Cornish pasties let him down.

DJ Rossy, 28, who recently launched Wayout radio station, said: “Cooking the dinner party was a nightmare. All the things that could go wrong at a dinner party did – it was a disaster. It’s terrible as I cook and I’m quite a good cook but when it came to a tight schedule everything went out of the window. It was a good experience but I’d never do it again. I only applied as a joke.”

Thirty-four-year-old fitness professional and builder Tim concluded the week by going for gold with an assorted Mediterranean feast. Tim greeted his guests from his van before serving canapés and hosting a fine-dining experience at his Sixpenny Handley home, which sealed third place.

“We had some great food over the nights and we still talk to each other,” said Tim.

The programme, which was filmed in May, appeared on Channel 4 but can still be viewed on Channel 4oD.
