COMEDIAN Michael McIntyre is to perform a show in Salisbury in support of plans to build a children’s hospice in Wiltshire.

The star will perform at Salisbury City Hall on June 3 in aid of the children’s hospice Julia’s House.

Tickets for the show are £40 each and go on sale this Friday at the Salisbury City Hall box office.

McIntyre, who recently moved to north Wiltshire, pledged his support for the charity’s plans to build a hospice in the county after meeting nurses at a private fundraiser organised by film director and producer Guy Ritchie, who is a patron of Julia’s House.

The event, held at Guy Ritchie’s home, raised more than £1.2 million towards the £3 million needed for a dedicated Wiltshire children’s hospice.

A public appeal was launched on Monday in Salisbury to raise the remainder of the money.

Martin Edwards, CEO of Julia’s House, which has a hospice in Dorset, said: “It’s amazing that the UK’s top comedian is staging a show just for us. Michael loves what we are doing for the children of Wiltshire. He has met several of our nurses and really wants to keep helping Julia’s House, which is fantastic.

“This show will help us move a step closer to building a children’s hospice for Wiltshire, providing expert care for even more children in the county.”

In November McIntyre dedicated one of his tour warm-up shows to Julia’s House, meeting nurses and fundraising staff at the Duchess Theatre in London.

He said: This wonderful charity cares for seriously ill children and their families in Dorset and South Wiltshire. I am particularly proud because Wiltshire is now my home county.”

Julia’s House currently offers a home-based respite care service for life-limited children living in South Wiltshire. It also organises social events and support for their families.

It is now seeking a central location for the new hospice and is currently recruiting extra nurses to support the growing number of referrals and demand for the service in the county.
