STREET dancers from Ringwood and Verwood will be heading off to a world championship competition and impressing judges with their moves.

Forty dancers from Shake, which runs classes in Ringwood, pictured, swept the board at a qualifying competition on February 15 held in Essex.

The three dance crews faced tough competition from crews around the country and had to impress a panel of top judges.

All three crews were placed first in their age group.

The trophies kept on coming, with several dancers also securing their place to compete in solo and duo categories including the youngest competitors from Shake on the day – eight-year-olds Tegan Bannerman-Williams and Kelsey Chaldecott.

The director of Shake, Rachel King, said: “Words cannot express how proud I am of all of the dancers and the amazing performances they all gave.

“They have all worked incredibly hard and it is amazing they will all be a part of the World Championship team.”

For some of the dancers this will be their sixth year competing in the world finals, where in the past they have come away with top three positions.

The dancers are now working hard to prepare for the final over the upcoming months as well as trying to fundraise the money they need to get there.

The World Street Dance Championship takes place in August.

The dancers appealing to anyone who could offer sponsorship to help with the cost of entering the competition, travel and accommodation.

They are also appealing to any event organisers who would like them to come and perform in return for a donation towards their championships fund.
