PUPILS of Hillside Community First School in Verwood brought history to life by dressing up as ancient Romans.
The Year 3 and 4 children transformed themselves into gladiators, soldiers, slaves and even gods to round off their studies on ancient Rome.
They spent the day doing workshops in shield making, lucky charm and bag making, as well as creating a design for their own pillow and even had a go at Roman country dancing.
The children braved the cold weather to try out the “tortoise” – an army defensive formation using their shields.
The day was brought to a close with a quiz.
