AFTER a vote last Wednesday the Friends of Amesbury History Centre has been established to help grow Centre based on Church Street.
It will help support the History Centre and the committee hope that members will spread the word of new group.
The history centre – which was formerly known as Amesbury Museum and Heritage Centre – is run on behalf of the town council, which owns the building.
The increasing number of visitors means the history centre is currently looking for volunteers to show people around, serve in the shop and make refreshments.
Anybody wishing to join the Friends should call into the History Centre, email amesburyhistorycentre@gmail.com or telephone Pat Carter on 01980 595621.
There is no membership subscription. At the inaugural meeting the management, finances and future development of the Amesbury History Centre were discussed, as well as its relationship with Amesbury Town Council and other local organisations.
