A NEW attraction which challenges players to find their way out of a series of locked rooms by solving clues and puzzles has opened in Salisbury.

Salisbury Escape Rooms opened on Saturday and is the brainchild of four retired police detectives.

Based on the theme of a missing professor who had been busy restoring a copy of the Magna Carta, players have one hour to complete the game.

Based on video games, escape rooms started opening in Europe and Asia a decade ago and are now starting to appear in the UK.

The attraction in Salisbury is believed to be the only one set up by real detectives who have spent their careers investigating crime as Wiltshire Police officers.

First through the doors at the weekend was Lloyd Ollerhead, from Devizes, who was celebrating his 17th birthday after being bought the gift by his older brother, Aiden.

Lloyd said: “We weren’t sure what to expect, having never done anything like this before, but we really enjoyed the whole experience.

“I would definitely recommend it to everyone. We will return, and thanks to everyone for a good birthday.”

His friend Ollie Graham said: “It was great fun. The puzzles were clever and well thought through - not frustrating, just ingenious.”

Salisbury Escape Rooms, which is at 11a Fisherton Street, is open from 10am to 8pm. For more information visit salisburyescape.com
