FOUR new Canons are set to join Salisbury Cathedral’s College of Canons following an invitation extended by the Bishop of Salisbury, the Right Revd Nicholas Holtam.

Bryanston School’s Chaplain, The Revd Andrew Haviland, and The Revd Kim Stephens, who leads the Chaplaincy at Salisbury Hospital, will be installed as non-residentiary Canons.

Victoria Bracey, who advises the Cathedral on fundraising, and Joy Tubbs, Director of the Diocesan Board of Education, are to be installed as Lay Canons.

They will be welcomed during Evensong at 5.30pm on Thursday, May 7.

Established in 2001 as the successor to the Great Chapter, the College of Canons meets twice a year and its role is to provide feedback to the Cathedral on its activities and to inform the policy decisions of Chapter, its governing body. The College also provides an opportunity for the Cathedral to further its role in the wider diocesan and civic life within the counties of Wiltshire and Dorset.

The Dean of Salisbury, The Very Revd June Osborne, said: “We are delighted to welcome the new Canons who bring with them valuable experience and specialisms that will enrich Salisbury Cathedral and contribute enormously in the form of advice and opinion.

“To have access to such a range of talent and knowledge in the College is an enormous privilege.

"Across the board our Canons contribute a depth of insight that is invaluable to any institution and we are thankful for the service they provide to the Cathedral.”
