POLICE are hunting for the man who attacked a 13-year-old boy near Charlie's Store, Catherine Street on Tuesday, March 3.

The incident took place at 4pm after the 13-year-old was headbutted by a man who is believed to be in his late-teens. He received minor injuries to his head and back.

When a member of the public intervened, the offender became verbally abusive before leaving the area.

Inspector David Minty said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured.

“Incidents like this are rare in Salisbury, and I would like to reassure members of the public that we are conducting a thorough investigation and following a number of lines of enquiry.

“We would like to hear from anybody who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone who may be able to help us in identifying the man responsible.”

The suspect is described as white, late teens, approximately 5 ft 7 inches tall, with short blonde hair and some facial hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms. He was seen cycling a silver or grey mountain bike in Catherine Street with another male on the bike, and a third male following behind on a bike carrying a backpack. The group of three ended up on Blue Boar Road by Debenhams where the man in the grey tracksuit boarded a bus and left the city centre.
