FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a fire at Avon Heath Country Park near Ringwood.
The fire service were alerted to the small heath fire shortly before 5pm yesterday (Thursday).
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire appliances and a pumping Land Rover attended and firefighters set to work extinguishing the flames using hose reel jets and beaters.
"The incident was under control by 5.36pm but crews remained on scene damping down the area until 7.15pm.
"The fire involved involved an area approximately 50m x 30m and is thought to have started accidentally."
Firefighters from Verwood Fire Station attended the incident.
