A MAN sustained "life threatening injuries" and was found in the road on the A35 at Burley.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident on Saturday (April 18).

The injured man, a 51-year-old from Kent, remains at Southampton General Hospital where his injuries are described as life threatening.

Hampshire Constabulary says officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Police say at around 4.15pm, a red Nissan Navara was travelling along the A35 through Burley Manor crossroads, towing a fair ground ride.

After it passed through the crossroads, the driver of another vehicle a few cars back spotted a man lying in the road.

Sergeant Adrienne Jerram said: “We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the red Nissan Navara towing the ride as it travelled from Christchurch Quay, through Somerford and on the A35 towards Lyndhurst.

“We would like to know if anyone noticed anything unusual about the vehicle or its trailer.”
