SOLDIERS serving with Tidworth based First Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers celebrated St George’s Day on Thursday to mark their regimental Foundation Day.
Every Fusilier in the Tidworth-based battalion spent the day wearing a red and white rose behind their beret ‘capbadge’ to recall the regiment’s battle honours.
The capbadge displays St George slaying the dragon, and is said to serve as an example of English martial prowess.
St George’s Day marks the anniversary of the regiment’s formation on April 23, 1968.
This year, celebrations will be relatively muted due to most of the Battalion conducting training in preparation for a major overseas exercise to Canada.
