RESIDENTS of a Salisbury village held a wine and cheese party to raise money for thousands affected by the Nepal earthquake disaster.
Sara Gruzelier and Julie Rowe, from West Dean, organised the gathering shortly after the earthquake hit the South Asian country.
More than 100 people braved the wet conditions, and little over two hours, £1,420 was raised for Disasters Emergency Committee.
Mrs Gruzelier said that she was delighted with the result, thanking all of those who had helped prepare for the event, donated time and money and turned out on a wet evening to support the people of Nepal.
Eleven years ago, the village rallied together for people caught up in the Tsunami catastrophe and raised £2,000.
