COUNCILLOR Sandra Grove has been elected as Verwood's new mayor.
Cllr Grove, who has lived in Verwood for nearly 26 years, said: "Our town of Verwood I feel is a unique place, it has a village feel with with a friendly atmosphere.
"I am extremely honoured and privileged to be able to represent the town as mayor for the coming year, and thank everyone for giving me this opportunity."
She is also the treasurer of the Twinning Association, a governor of Hillside School and a volunteer for the Heritage Centre as well as being an active member of the Verwood Dementia Friendly team.
Mrs Grove will be joined Councillor Susan Shaw as deputy mayor.
Cllr Shaw sits on a number of Verwood Town Council committees, which include finance and general purpose, and is also a trustee of the Verwood Memorial Recreation Ground Trust and is representative for the Council on the Verwood and 3LX Twinning Association and Verwood in Bloom.
