A NEW chairman has been elected for New Forest District Council.
Cllr Alison Hoare was handed the chain of office at the annual meeting of the council last Monday.
She said: “I feel privileged to be given the position of chairman and I am very much looking forward to representing the council and meeting people across the New Forest during my civic year.
“I will do my utmost to support and raise the profile of local organisations and charities."
Cllr Hoare was elected to New Forest District Council in 2007 and serves as a ward member for Marchwood. She has chaired both the housing review panel, and planning development control committee.
The council's new vice chairman is Godfrey (Goff) Beck.
