A DRUG dealer has been jailed after admitting being sent from London to supply Class A substances in Salisbury.

David Harte, 20, of Croydon, London was seen in early February by police officers conducting what appeared to be a drug deal with a man and woman outside an address in Endless Street.

The man and woman were stopped and searched, and officers found both had four wraps of crack cocaine. Further searches recovered more Class A drugs in Harte’s possession.

A woman, Natasha Davis, 36, of Spire View, Salisbury, was sentenced for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs alongside Harte at Winchester Crown Court.

Officers stopped her on March 10 and found she had 15 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine.

Harte was also arrested again at an address in Salisbury in possession of class A drugs. Both were on police bail at the time.

During interviews, both admitted the offences and pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

Harte admitted he had been sent down from London to supply drugs in Salisbury and received an eight month prison sentence. He was also ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge and had £592 cash forfeited.

Davis was sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, and will have to complete a drugs treatment programme.

PC Mark Welch of the Crime Squad in Salisbury said: “In the early part of this year, Salisbury was heavily targeted by drugs gangs from both the Birmingham and London areas.

“These networks would send down ‘runners’ who would take over a local drug users’ address, either by force or by payment in drugs, and then deal from that location.

“The Crime Squad from Salisbury worked tirelessly alongside the Dedicated Crime Team from Melksham to curb the sudden influx of dealers into the area and with positive custodial sentences being given to members of these dangerous drug networks.

“We hope this will be seen as a deterrent to anyone planning on coming to Salisbury to sell drugs.

“If anyone suspects similar behaviour happening in their neighbourhood we urge them to contact police either through their local neighbourhood team, call 101, drop in at Bourne Hill, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
