FACE painting, balloons, dramatic street performances and demonstrations of escapology culminated a day of festivities for an active city church.

More than 800 people went along to Sarum Academy on Sunday for Salisbury City Church's (SCC) Community Fun Day.

An upbeat service was held in the morning, with Simon Thomas as guest speaker, and then an afternoon of fun-filled activities followed.

Sizzling sausages, bouncy castles, soft play areas, tug-of-war, football and more kept a large audience entertained.

Simon Redmill, lead elder of SCC, which is in its 12th year, said: “With a growing presence in Salisbury and south Wiltshire, we simply wanted to bless our local community, forging links of friendship, and demonstrating that we are here to show God’s practical and transforming love to our locality.

"Through Salisbury City Job Club, Little Acorns Toddler Group and most recently Baby Basics, we aim to show practical support in this great place we all call home – and we hope that on Sundays we are also welcoming, accessible and inclusive to all."
