A SURPRISE Highland calf is among the new arrivals at River Bourne Community Farm.

The farm is inviting guests to meet the new additions at its annual fundraising open day on Sunday, 7 June.

Twin lambs have just been born to Millie, the farm’s resident sheep, and a completely unexpected Highland calf made an appearance in the late afternoon of Wednesday, May 27.

Jane Wilkinson, farm manager said: "Nobody was more surprised than the staff at the farm.

"The Highland cattle are recent additions to the farm and came from a farm in Corfe Castle.

"We had no idea that one of them was expecting and we now wait with baited breath to see if any of the other three are going to produce a calf.

"We were alerted to our lovely new addition by a passing member of the public."

The open day includes farm animals, rural crafts, punch and judy, horse drawn carriage & pony rides, tractor trailer rides, archery, dog agility, classic vehicles, mega slide and fairground activities, hot and cold food including cream teas and a farm barbecue, bar, live music and lots more activities.

Entry is free and there is plenty of on-site parking at £2 a car.
