Nightclub boss Amanda Newbery has praised taxi firms for reacting favourably to her campaign to keep tariffs low.
Following a busy night at the Chapel, Amanda said: "Taxi firms have been great. Brilliant response."
The co-owner of the dance and music venue had spent four hours in the early hours of last Sunday morning directing customers to the lower-priced cabs after some individual drivers had increased their charges in the wake of new licensing charges imposed by Wiltshire Council.
She said: "All the main taxi companies are so fed up with the licensing system," and complained that the knock-on effect would be to "kill the night-time economy in the town."
Despite last night's success she says the campaign to keep late night travel prices low would continue.
"We are flyering for miles over the next few weeks about how to get in and out cheap," and they would be taking the case for review back to Wiltshire Council
