TEAMS of Girlguides from Shrewton and Larkhill challenged five teams from across Wiltshire in an annual archery contest in Berwick St James.
Showing their mettle, girls worked in teams of four, each firing six arrows to try and secure the highest team score and the highest individual points on a target set 14 meters ahead of them.
County archery instructor Jo Fitton said: "The competition helps the girls challenge themselves and other teams."
1st Shrewton came top in both the team challenge scoring a high of 93 points and best individual archers with Holly Hornby and Sophie Griffiths gaining first and third place respectively scoring 36 and 30 points each.
Larkhill Guide Natasha Peters oversaw her patrols third place win with sixty nine points and secured second best individual score of the day with thirty five points from six arrows fired.
Guide Katie said "It's only the second time I've done this and my arms ache, but it's most annoying when the arrow keeps sliding off the rest as I raised the bow."
Backwoods cooking exercises kept the waiting patrols busy, seeing the girls create chocolate cakes from scooped out oranges that they wrapped in foil and baked on the embers of the campsites wood fire place.
