PUPILS at Whiteparish School know what to do if they are attacked having studied the art of self-defence this month.
The special classes for Year 6 pupils were run by Adam Gerken of Self-Defence Direct.
The aim is to prepare pupils for the transition to secondary school, helping them to develop skills such as how to calm down a volatile situation and how to be assertive without being aggressive.
Mr Gerken has worked in many secondary schools in the past, running after school classes.
This is the first time that a primary school has invited him in and the school is funding this during curriculum time, to ensure that all pupils benefit from the programme.
