SOUTH COAST law firm Trethowans has announced a number of promotions across its offices in Hampshire and Wiltshire.

The move comes ahead of the firm’s merger with Dorset-based Dickinson Manser and is part of long term expansion plans for Trethowans.

Managing partner Chris Whiteley said the appointment of a new senior associate and associates are part of a long term strategy for Trethowans.

“We opened a new Southampton office seven months ago and our forthcoming merger places us in a strong position for growth,’’ said Chris. “These promotions reinforce our commitment to ensuring the best staff are in place to fulfill our ambitions.”

As part of the new appointments Will Sclater has been appointed senior associate in the commercial litigation department. He has worked in the team for the last seven years and has been instrumental in developing the property litigation offering.

New associates include Karen Lush who is team leader for licensing and handles a number of large restaurant chains. She joined Trethowans almost 30 years ago and has worked in licensing for the last 15 years.

Frances Gillett has also been appointed an associate for her outstanding work as a solicitor in the personal injury team.

Private client solicitor Jessica Johnston has also been promoted to associate. She qualified in 2011 and recently passed her Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners diploma. She works on a range of work including wills, powers of attorney, trusts and probate.

“We are delighted to reward some of our most outstanding members of staff with these promotions,’’ added Chris.
