A FORMER Wimbledon champion was given star treatment when she visited Shopmobility to become their 7,777th customer.

Anna Spann lives in Johannesburg but is currently in England to visit her sisters and go to Wimbledon. In 1955 she was part of the last English pair to win the doubles at Wimbledon with Angela Mortimer-Barrett.

All The Sevens Taxis were on hand to do a special presentation at the Wiltshire Council run service where Paul Duffield from the firm presented Anna with a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers.

Paul said: “I’d like to congratulate Salisbury Shopmobility on reaching this milestone and for all their hard work providing such a valuable service to the city of Salisbury.”

Philip Whitehead, cabinet member for highways and transport said: “Shopmobility provides an exceptional service helping people have the independence and freedom to enjoy the city.

“What a great way to mark this special occasion. Congratulations to Shopmobility on so many examples of good service, long may it continue.”

Shopmobility provides mobility scooters, powerchairs, wheelchairs and shopper walkers to hire on a daily or long term basis for people with permanent or temporary disabilities.
