A LIBYAN student has been left stranded in Salisbury after turmoil in his home country has prevented him from returning.
Mohamed Kalefa Aisa was studying English at Kaplan Language School when violence broke out and his visa will run out once his course finishes. The borders have now closed and no flights are leaving the UK destined for the north African country.
Under current rules Mr Aisa was asked to travel to a third country to reapply for a British visa something which Salisbury MP John Glen described in parliament as "impractical and unrealistic".
Mr Glen will now write to the government to ask them to grant a special visa to him.
