JOURNAL readers snapped these dramatic shots of the thunderstorm last night.
A Met Office yellow 'be aware' warning is in place until midday today. The storm came after temperatures soared during the week.
Among the places to be hit by flooding was Stratford Road in Stratord-sub-Castle
Resident Lucy Munt said: "Parts of the road were covered in water showing strong reflections of the surrounding buildings, it was certainly something I have never witnessed before. It was like a river."
