YOU know the expression - It never rains but it pours?

Well, I can’t remember a time in my life when these few words have ever rung so true.

On Thursday, the Teen was at the stables, so I decided I would use the whole day to get Everything Done. All those things that I have put to one side while I have dealt with more Pressing and Very Urgent Matters.

As I was unloading the car, I realised that I had forgotten milk. So without further ado I jumped back into the car to nip to the local convenience store.

As I was driving along past the cemetery I heard a crack, a shot, a bang and then my passenger side window exploded. Glass blew into the car.

I checked for blood. I thought I had been shot. I felt the side of my head and looked down onto my shaking body, relieved that the Teen hadn’t been with me.

I sat in my beautiful new shiny car, covered in smashed glass and rung the police.

A woman stuck her head through the windowless hole and told me she had seen two boys cycle off from the cemetery and she gave me the names.

“Are you okay?” a nice man asked. I told him what happened. “I work in counter terrorism and this is where the impact hit your window.”

“A counter terrorist and you work in Ringwood?”

“I deal with glass for buildings.”

When the police finally showed up I gave them the information and showed them the point of impact.

They checked out the cemetery and came back, informing me they believed it had been a “freak accident” as the groundsmen were strimming.

That afternoon my neighbour knocked on the door.

“I’m going to put some plastic in your window. You can’t wait that long.”

And he did. I was even able to use my electric windows.

Autoglass came yesterday.

This morning I woke up once more with that horrible feeling of anxiety and dread that hasn’t left me for weeks.

These anxious feelings are just attracting more things into my life that make me feel more anxious. I must get a grip, after all, I am the creator of my own destiny.

I have now regained control.
