A NUMBER of people have contacted Wiltshire Police and the NSPCC following yesterday's revelation that former Prime Minster Sir Edward Heath was under investigation for child sex abuse.
The investigation team will be reviewing the information and following up lines of enquiry.
The NSPCC will continue to receive calls their helpline. They will be referring any information through Operation Hydrant to the relevant force including to Wiltshire Police.
It comes as the BBC report that the Metropolitan Police have launched their own investigation into Ted Heath, who lived in Salisbury for 20 years until his death in 2005.
Jersey police have also said Sir Edward forms part of their investigation into historical allegations of abuse.
Labour deputy leader hopeful Tom Watson told the BBC he had referred two allegations of child sexual abuse the former prime minister to the police since 2012.
He said: "I passed them both to the police, who have confirmed to me that at least one of those allegations is being investigated and taken seriously."
He added that there was a need for a national police inquiry.
