IT was a record-breaking day of aquatic action when scores of Salisbury scouts raced down a river on homemade boats
as part of this year's scouting raft race.
The youngsters built their own rafts and battled it out on the water to see who was the fastest, tackling different challenges as they day went on.
The event is popular as it brings together scouters and the community, with spectators watching the morning races unfold.
More teams competed at this year's contest than ever before.
A highlight was watching explorer scouts go head-to-head in their homemade cardboard canoes, with many not getting very far.
Crowds went away very happy after having an amazing day with friends on the water.
The winners in Years 6 to 7 were Bourne Valley with a time of 2.39, while in Years 8 to 9 it was Laverstock an impressive 2.34.
2nd Bulford St Leonards scout group where awarded a homemade trophy by district commissioner David Waspe for getting stuck in and not giving up.
The group scout leader for 2nd Bulford said: “We will display this with pride.”
