A 29-YEAR-OLD in the Intelligence Corps has been disqualified from driving for 20 months after he was caught driving while more than twice the legal drink-drive limit.
Andrew Beswick of Jellalabad Barracks, Tidworth, was found by officers in a Volvo S40 in the middle of Bulford Hill in Amesbury at 11.10pm on July 29.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday. The level of alcohol in his breath was 80mcg per 100 ml - the legal limit is 35mcg.
Defending Sarah Brown said: “He has never been before the courts.
“He is certainly very remorseful and embarrassed. He has with him an assisting officer who has provided a glowing reference saying he is an incredibly good soldier.”
Magistrates said the disqualification would be reduced by 21 weeks if he completes a rehabilitation course.
He was fined £500 and has to pay £385 court costs.
