THE BIG DAY has arrived for Salisbury’s Summer Spectacular. The event organised by Salisbury City Council is free to attend and is on from 2pm – 10pm at Hudson's Field.

The organisers are encouraging families to bring a picnic to the event. The weather forecast for the daytime is predicted to be just fine, with sunshine filling most of the day and, according to the BBC, it is expected to remain dry at least until 6pm.

The large family fun day will include, a main stage, main arena, large fun fair, live music, a tea tent, a children’s village and various marquees offering a wonderful variety of stalls from food and craft to Teenage Market and Vintage and Business stands.

This year the main arena display is the Bolddog Lings Motorcycle Display team with their top ranked freestyle motocross riders, incorporating the latest heart stopping tricks as usually only seen on TV! The displays will take place at 3pm, 4.30pm and 5.30pm. This is then followed by the Hot Air Balloon take off at 6.30pm in the main arena.

Over on the Main Stage the Mayor of the City of Salisbury will welcome the crowds at 2pm. The line-up for the main stage is as follows:

2.30pm Kyrum 4 Piece alternative funk/rock band aged between 17 and 18 who play a mixture of their own material and some covers of popular songs.

3.10pm Casa de Samba Casa de Samba is a community band that will get you moving to the sound of their lively samba music.

3.45pm E Minor Pop Academy 25-30 Strong Children’s pop and rock choir are aged between 7 and 16.

4.15pm Salisbury Malayalee Association Salisbury Malayalee Association is a cultural organisation formed by the Malayalee families. They will be performing an Indian Classical Dance and also a Cinematic Bollywood Dance.

5.00pm The Intercepteurs The 8 piece band play ‘end of the pier’ English Ska(ish) type music!

6.00pm The Funk Bunnies Fresh dynamic and funky covers who will be performing songs from the 70’s to the present. Expect songs you can sing and dance to from the 5 piece band.

7.00pm The Big Blue The trio consisting of Guitar/Vocals, Bass and Drums play covers of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Clapton, Muddy Waters, Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and more in a very funky style.

8.30pm Abba Revival Tribute Band The 4 piece band has been recognised by the industry as the ‘OFFICIAL No #1’ Abba Tribute Show.

Also joining this event will be the Zero Gravity Bike Show with their awesome freestyle mountain bike stunt team. Come and witness the balance skills, twists and turns and death defying stunts at 2.30pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm.

A familiar face from the City Centre is also making a guest appearance too, Gilbert the Flower Dragon will be on site as part of the Salisbury City Council stand and you can have your picture taken with the popular dragon as well as colour in your own Gilbert picture to take home.

Jennings Fun Fair will be located on site offering all the thrills of a family fun fair with rides for all ages.

There will be bars across the site offering a variety of beers, wines and soft drinks and a Cider and Pimms tent too. There will also be a large number of food vendors featuring a wide a variety of food for everyone to enjoy including Burgers, Thai, gourmet Hot Dogs, Spanish, Mexican and sweets,

In the Children’s Village there will be inflatables, craft and art activities and popular attractions such as a climbing wall, petting farm and face painting.

Everyone is invited to bring along a picnic and enjoy this FREE event for all ages.

There will also be a Tea & Coffee tent offering acoustic music and the chance to relax with the sounds of Dinner Jazz Sax and Real Vintage throughout the day.

The event culminates in a wonderful firework display at approximately 10pm.

FREE shuttle buses have been organised by the Council in conjunction with Salisbury Reds with buses picking up from outside Iceland on Castle Street from 1.45pm onwards and running to the site and via the Beehive Park and ride then returning to the City Centre throughout the event every 15 minutes.

There is no parking for the general public at the event site nor on the surrounding roads and all vehicles illegally parked will be towed.

All Wiltshire Council Car Parks are FREE from 1pm in the City Centre!

Disabled Parking is available on site and can be accessed via GATE C at the Stratford Road entrance to Hudson’s Field, please follow the directional signage.
