TV and radio star Sir Terry Wogan's trip to Salisbury will feature in a BBC Two programme on September 17.

The presenter was in the city on March 3 as part of a new TV series called Terry & Mason’s Great Food Trip.

The series which starts on Monday, August 31 comprises 20 episodes broadcast across four weeks.

Taking inspiration from the 1963 book British Bouquet: An Epicurean Tour Of Britain by Samuel Chamberlain, Sir Terry joins London cabbie Mason McQueen for a British culinary adventure.

A spokesman for production company Curve Media said: "Sir Terry and Mason explore the food and social history of various locations referenced in the book with personal anecdotes, surprising historical facts and comparisons of ‘then and now’ to lead their journey, through the knowledge of the local people."

When Sir Terry visited Salisbury, he met with chutney maker David Burton at Salisbury Cathedral, chatted to traders at the Charter Market and visited the Haunch of Venison pub and Salisbury Museum.

He also visited Amesbury and met Burhan Uddin from the Tandoori Nights restaurant.

Sir Terry said: “I've taken the high road in the back seat of Mason's black London cab, as together we travel the country, meeting the people, seeing the sights and forcing down the occasional mouthful of food, in our fearless pursuit of epicurean excellence."

The 30-minute programme airs at 6.30pm.
